PowerPoint Keyboard Shortcuts that Save TimePowerPoint Keyboard Shortcuts that Save TimeIf you asked me what the NUMBER ONE question I get about PowerPoint is there’s one thing that immediately comes to mind. “How do I save time when creating presentations?” You’ve probably had this thought too. It’s usually followed by “I get frustrated with clicking around trying to find things!” Honestly, there are quite a few ways to save time in PowerPoint but one of my favorites is using keyboard shortcuts.

Whenever I even mention keyboard shortcuts I can see my student’s eyes light up! These are handy little tricks to have at your disposal and once you use a few, you’ll never want to go back. I’ve shared a few of my favorites below but you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ve got a whole list for you to save at the end of this post. Sharing is caring, right? 🙂

General PowerPoint Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Duplicate the current slide: CTRL + SHIFT + D
  • Insert a new, blank slide: CTRL + SHIFT + M
  • Duplicate an image or text box (keep pressing D for multiples): CTRL +D

  • Copy text formatting (ex. font, size, color): Select the text box with the formatting you want to copy, CTRL + SHIFT + C
  • Paste text formatting: Select the text box where you want to paste formatting, CTRL + SHIFT + V
  • Select all text within a text box: CTRL + A
PowerPoint Keyboard Shortcuts to Use While Presenting
  • Access a digital pen to make on-screen notes (aka mark-ups): CTRL + P
  • Hide or show all on-screen mark-ups: CTRL + M
  • Show a blank black (or white) screen at any time: B (or W)

Conclusion

It may take a few tries before these shortcuts become second nature but – oh baby – when they do, you’ll be flying through your presentations and turning your colleagues into raving fans along the way.
